Binatbatan, the festival during the last week of april to first week of may every year. This is the festival of art. The festival began when an epidemic killed 934 residents in a month in 1882. The epidemic started November 12 and ended December 15. This happened 30 years after a chapel was built in 1852 in the cemetery of Vigan. Binatbatan is the process of beating cotton pods to remove the seeds. In 2002, Binatbatan Festival was introduced to celebrate one of the industries that kept residents alive (abel Iloco hand-loom weaving). In this year's celebration of the said festival was totally different. Many events had canceled, no more streetdancing, and other events that can cause mass gathering which is not allowed. We must be sure our safety before others cause there are still next time.

This pandemic had a big impact, no more festival like binatbatan festival. We cannot say festival without any events happened. But safe should be on our mind. There are still tomorrow for the celebration just a little bit of patience, and we can get through this pandemic that we're facing right now.
